Mad World

Winter in Indiana can drive you a mad, really. Thank you Lord I am able to run, get outside, go to work, but 2 months into winter I am ready for the sun. Good old Vitamin D, the barometric pressure to get above 31 instead of 28 ( when you feel you are in the dumps ), so everyone is in a good , happy mood.

Not to complain to much, as I went out the door at 5:45, a light dusting of snow on the streets and as usual calm as could be.

Having been a morning runner for the last 47 years, the biggest percentage of the time , the hours between 5am and 7am are the calmest time of day. Usually in the winter it's the coldest , but no wind and the summer the most humid but no beating sun. So that is why I have been a AM runner for the most part. Another reason was when I raced, they were in the morning, and the ol' engine was usually ready.

This morning was the golf course loop in reverse, just for a different course. My strides were a bit shorter because of snow cover, but with my new favorite shoes that stick pretty good on wet ( not ice ) I was off. As approached the golf course, this time at the end of the run, I looked down and still pretty snow covered. I know where the path is supposed to be , but maybe the good shoes for the wet are not the shoes for the snow and most likely wet frozen mud.

So I bailed, opting to keep my hamstring attached to my butt at least another day.

All said the run is in the books , 52:06 / 6.5 miles , and my parts are feeling really good.
