D.I.N.O. Eagle Creek
GOT MUD ! After all night rain, the morning was overcast , but the precipitation has stopped.
That doesn't imply that the trail all of a sudden has dried up and will be fast.
As I arrive to the park, in the store van to set up or vendor stand, I was directed to park over here. As I head over here, the van stopped moving forward and I see mud flying thru the air.Yep, stuck and no 4 wheel drive. So with the help of 8 people we free the van and get set up for the race.
Prior to the start, all were warned of lot's of mud and slick bridges,. The gun fires and off we all go. Due to our vendor booth I elect for the 5K to get back before the majority of the runners finish, and thankfully today 1 loop is good.
Running thru the muck is challenging enough, but worst when a few hundred pair of feet go before you . (15K started 10 min. earlier).
You really have to love trail running, to torch you shoes, have mud caked on you legs and generally just get down and dirty.
This run was slow, due to conditions, but it was same for everyone. Well the ones that just had there smooth bottom road training shoes on had it a lot worst. My Stoltz trail shoes were great, other than sinking into the muck the traction was the best. Never slipped, went right up the hills , and down the hills without sliding.
It was a fun morning, great naked burritos from Qdoba after race, Burrito at 10am loaded, and looking forward to the next trail race next Saturday.
Holiday Park 5 mile and hope the rain stops at some point so it is a little less muddy, but if not , it is what it is!
Just south of 27 minutes, I'll take a 4 min. mulligan of the slop.
