You Can't Go Here

Remember being told you can't climb that apple tree, but you did, or you can't go there, but you drove up the drive to the House of Blue Lights hoping you didn't come face to face with another car zooming out yelling " the casket opened ".
In my younger days, I always seemed to buck the system a bit. I wasn't a thug or anything, but if I was told you can't, I did, or at least tried.

So with the day looking like 100% rain, I overdressed and headed to a different golf course and the winding paths.

As I get there , see picture above, I tell myself I can , and did squeeze thru the above gate. Remember I am and have lost weight.
So a 2 mile run to that gate, I am now winding thru the above mentioned private club's course.
A couple days ago or by Tuesday coming at noon this will not happen, but on rainy days or in the winter this is another great diversion from the roads.
The creek that flows thru the course is beside the path under 126th street, and well it was really high this afternoon. I had squirmed between the chained gate, so 5 inches of water is no big deal. I do have my shoes on that have openings in bottom so water can go out, and they work.
Wet feet but not soggy, the shoe drainage is awesome , and I continue to the other 9 hole side of the course. There are several small ponds out here and plenty of mallard ducks hanging out. No pesky golfers today , just a crazy dude running in the pouring rain.
Around one of the fairways on a green marker sat a HUGE red tailed Hawk. ( see below pix ) I stopped in my tracks no more than 20 yards away form his intimidating eyes, reached for my phone to get his pix, but all the movement sent him off. This thing was big. It remined me of the stealth bomber that flew over the Indy 500 one year. Watch out rodents and small animals when he gets hungry The run continues and as I get near the gate to head back home , a couple very large ducks looked to be heading to tee off, or maybe take off.
The course is in remarkable condition, very green, a result of late fall care, and ready for a season of folks dropping some big bucks to hit a small ball around, swore some, then drink beer.
The drink beer isn't bad.
I will do my usual 5am run , jump into the several courses and run the paths , waive at the groundskeepers, tell them how nice the course looks before they have a chance to say, YOU CAN'T .
As a side note, today was the worm's world coming out day . I there was one there was a million .
Between feet, cars and birds , the worm community lost members today!
8 miles in downpour, but nice temperatures

  1. Dude! Way to get wet! Don't let a flooded tunnel stop you! Woohoo! Wish I'd been there.
