Dawg Day
A Dog Day today.
Sad about Butlers game last night, but they still won.
Pretty warm, not quite dog days of summer, but a hint.
Cubs lost 1st game of the season, and a run this morning , ride from Carmel store to Downtown Indy store and back to Carmel tonight.
It was a beautiful morning to run, sunny warm, so a quick trip around the lake, chug down my 16oz of chocolate milk, pull on my riding shorts, backpack on and head downtown Indy.
Not much to say about run today but a shakeout for the bike. Bike of choice was my Trek Soho Single speed, its like night rider or stealth, all black.
With a 18 tooth gear you spin pretty fast, but heading south on the Monon for the 17.5 mile trip in a 30 mph headwind it gets your attention.
No gear to grab to spin easier, just plow thru . The ride home looks to be pretty quick, as that headwind will now be a tailwind, which is good as the way back to Carmel is gradually uphill all the way.
That is nothing compared to the video I received yesterday , "The Race Across the Sky" , the story of the 2009 Leadville 100 mile mountain bike race, my goal so I need to quit wining about a little headwind.
A race that starts at 10,000 feet and goes to 12,500 and have climbs that world class racers are reduced to a walk and push up.
Watched the video and there are people older than me that finish within the 12 hour time limit.
I will do it, and Brown County will see alot of me this year.
A good day today, 4.5 run and 35 ride
