Cross Country
Out on the cross country course this morning as the sun began to rise.No cars to worry about, no noise, just in your thoughts as you wind the course.
Today is going to be another steam bath, but at 6:30, the low spots on the course ,where the fog had settled, had a very cool, wet feeling.
The hard work of trail blazing the new woods loop is moving along very well, thanks to all the college kids doing service work on the grounds. So with over 200 small stumps removed over the past few weeks , and the dirt from the new parking lot back near the loop, it is time for a trip thru.
As I took the south path at the cross, that leads you to the entrance of the woods, and wow, it is now reality
A couple hundred meters in I had to design the course to head back north due to standing water in the low part of the woods. With drainage pipes under path, the trail has been risen about 3 feet to cross the area back to area that is usually always hardpacked.
The trip thru is a half a mile, but it really adds to the whole course.
It won't be ready to race on this season , but next year it will be great. The woods loop will be added to my run every time now , as this will complete the 10K course.
