Darkness

As you know I am a early A.M. runner, always have been and after 47 years most likely always will be. No to say I don,t run any other time of day, but the 5 to 6 am range has always proven to be the best for me.

The one dis-advantage , maybe two dis-advantages, is you never see anything but street lights and the 50 yards ahead of you, and you usually are by yourself.
Back in my marathon days, that worked to my advantage, by yourself. In a 25,000 person marathon, when it gets down to it, you run by yourself. If you run good, you are deep in concentration, if it's bad you are mentally beating youself up, making excuses and just trying to get the thing over.

Let me get it straight, running early morning, gets the day off to the best possible start, you have your miles under your belt, and no chance of bailing out of the run at 5pm do do something else, usually costing you money or un-needed calories. Also my legs are much fresher at 5 am than 5pm.

I run in the dark 85% of the year, thanks to day light savings time, which happens weekend after this. Prior to that change a couple years ago, 5 am was awesome. Sun breaking, birds (I still hear birds in the dark in summer), it was really nice, but now just as it is thinking of daybreak, WAMMO, another 4 weeks of darkness.

Oh well , the advantage is I have more time for my good buddy in the evenings, and he cant wait!

When can we go play??

Soon, real soon

Good run 6 mi. should be able to hold that pace in satuday's 15K
