What a great morning for the run. Sunny 50 degrees, no rain for the past week.
After a 6 min. run around the park road we all dive into the trails , down to the river.
They were in great shape, but as you kept dipping near the river , MUD, not the sloppy Eagle Creek mud from last week, heavy slick stuff.
The young high school girl in front of me in her pretty new pink outfit, had the wrong choice shoes. After her second sharp turn , her pretty pink outfit was mostly brown with mud.
We were on the single track along the river , which was very slick, and a tumble would be into White River. But she manages to get thru that part to the steep muddy uphill and down she goes again.
The nice guy that I am , I just grab her arm and drag to to the top before she decides to cry or quit.
The balance of the race was good, but I kept looking at the watch wondering were the finish is.
So over the last bridge and up 200 meter hill that is pretty much death, another 50 yards to the last down and up to the finish.
Time 49:26 and by all the Garmin's at the finish line , the 5 mile run ended at 5.5 miles
Oh Well, it was same course for everyone , and race number 3 for the year is in the books
If they wouldn't have run out of timing chips , I would have been included in results. Self insertion makes me 127th out of over 600 and 3rd in age group.
