Jabbering

Back to the Monon this morning after a absence of about 3 weeks of running on it. A wonderful cool morning.
The journey headed north thru Westfield and as usual it took my first couple miles to get in the swing of things.
Once to the end of the line , a touch of the barrier and head back to Carmel. As my pace began to pick up , I see heading toward me Lucie and Judy just girl talking and moving at a nice pace.
I started think back to the day, the Sunday morning runs from Dan's house to Fort Harrison. That pre-devolopment at the north and east of the fort.
Are usual 15 mile run , we jabbered for the first 12 miles about anything and everything. It was great because back then easy was 6 min pace .
Seeing Lucie and Judy brought it all back. It was great , as the miles would just click off . That's the beauty of running partners during long runs , it diverts your attention .
Back in those days we jabbered away, but we always knew what would happen the last 3 miles .
That 3 mile mark was at the bottom of Boy Scout Road hill. A long tough climb.
The great thing about those runs were as we got closer to that left turn , the conversation ended, game faces were on, and who got back to Dan's house first.
It was a race and the end of the long run and we all gave it all up. It didn't matter what time of year it was if you didn't make it back under 16 minutes you were a dog that whole next week.
Those were the day's , great memories. So without a jabbering partner today , I did a memorial last 2 miles. It wasn't close to the old day's , but back to back 7:15 and felt great doing it.
Miss being young and fast, but looking forward to being like Billy, in my 80's and still going!
